Its a by-election - I see at Rotherham

I see the mass media are on their high horses once again, over what is now known as the 'UKIP foster case'.  Now I'm not about to comment on the merits of the case, no doubt when the furore has passed we shall find out the real truth behind all of this...... in the cool light of the day, when all the evidence has been properly considered etc etc.. .

What this case does not need is trial by media, as it does no one any favours, and we tend to forget the most important aspect here the interest of the children, and those of  the foster parents. And the politicians don't help do they, with their instant answers structured to meet the perceived concerns of whatever demographics they are trying to please at the time.

Yes, it shouldn't come as a surprise that this case has come to light just as a by-election is being held in the very ward. And what the politicians say should taken with this in mind.....makes me think this may turn out to be UKIP 'Jennifer's Ear' moment .

The Red Flag said...

UKIP, despite making out they are now big-time, punched well above their weight and will be insignificant in 2015 general election.

As was just pointed out on TV, in the last 12 by-elections that UKIP have contested, they lost their deposit in 8 of them. In last night's results:-

At Rotherham, Labours majority was more than the combined vote of the next four parties behind them. Labour's %share of the vote increased.

At Croydon, Labours majority was more than the combined total vote of every other candidate. Again their %share of the vote increased.

At Middlesboroagain Labour' majority was more than the total vote for every other candidate combined and again their %share increased.

I should think that the person most quietly confident of all is actually Miliband. If UKIP contimue in this vein they will deliver Miliband an absoultely massive majority, destroy the LibDems and bankrupt themselves.

He can't ask for more really.
